Warriors lose five of six this week

It was a rough week for Marion High School volleyball as the Warriors dropped five of six matches to fall to 10-16 overall.

After starting the season 3-0 in the Mid-Central Activities Association, Marion lost its last seven league matches.

The latest came at the hands of the Hesston Swathers Oct. 12 at the MHS gym.

The Warriors lost the matches by scores of 2-0 and 2-1. On Saturday they ended their seven-match losing streak, winning one out of three in the Hillsboro tournament to reach double digit vicotires.

Last night the Warriors finished out the regular season competing in the Nickerson quad at Nickerson High School. Any vicotry in the tournament could garner them a high seed at the sub-state tournament. Their final regular season record will determine what seed they will have when play begins at 1 p.m. Saturday at the MHS gym.

If the Warriors win the tournament their late season skid will mean nothing as they head to the state tournament Oct. 29-30 at Salina.

If they lose, their season will be over and eight seniors will have ended their career. Next season the Warriors will be a young but experienced team.
