Warriors struggle at Hesston

Playing in the Hesston invitational Sept. 18, head coach Jim Versch and the Marion High School Warrior volleyball team were pumped to be on the court.
However, when the night was done, MHS had lost both its matches and fallen to 2-15 overall.
"It was one of those nights," Versch said. "We were very spirited before the match, but once the game started, seemed very distant."
In the first match the Warriors ran into perennial power Hesston (11-2), and dropped both matches, 25-12, 25-14.
"Hesston is a good team, and should continue to improve," Versch said.
But in the second match MHS lost to Wichita Collegiate (6-10) for the third time this season.
"[They] are a very beatable team," Versch said of the Spartans.
Only one of the two matches counted toward league standings, leaving Marion at 1-1 in the Mid-Central Activities Association, and 2-15 overall.
The Warriors were in action Tuesday at Sterling for a match against the Black Bears, as well as the Smoky Valley Vikings. Both matches count toward league standings.
