Watch what you wish for

Well, I never believed this, but I do now. "Be careful what you wish for, you might get it."

The other noon I was just finishing my lunch with a glass of milk and thought, oh, I wish I had a cookie. I had just thrown out all the old, dried up ones and would have even given almost anything for one of those. All at once there was a knock at the back door and there stood my gentleman neighbor holding a large platter of cookies — large, peanut butter cookies still warm from the oven. This is an absolute true story. Isn't that scary!

The family reunion is going full speed. Too fast! I have to rub my eyes to really believe all these relatives are here. They keep coming and going so you hardly get to see one long enough. I'd like to have a private visit with each one and learn what they do and what their dreams are.

There are some darling young children. Will they remember this? The youngest will be my great-great-grandson from Colorado Springs.

One granddaughter brought her new pet, a cute little Yorkie. Of course he gets a lot of attention. My daughter Wanda was dog-sitting him. You know you don't dare leave them in a car.

My daughter has a pet fish. She had to bring him. I asked her how she was doing. Then, she was trying to do a few things for her old Mom. Kept her out of mischief.

I wish you all could see the beautiful black marble head of an eagle that our sculptor member carved. It was something he felt he needed to do after the 9-11 tragedy.

Families are wonderful!
