WEDDING: Gausman, Versch

Amber Gausman and Jesse Versch were united in marriage at 6 p.m. Jan. 18, 2003, at the United Methodist Church, Chester, Neb.

The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Warren Schoming.

Instrumental music was provided by Howard Reed III of Superior, Neb., pianist. Lucas Hoge of Nashville, Tenn., sang "Me and You." Ken Hoge of Hubbell, Neb., sang "The Lord's Prayer."

The bride is the daughter of Michael and Rebecca Gausman of Chester. Jim and Judy Versch of Marion are parents of the groom.

Honored guests at the wedding were the bride's grandparents Max and Roberta Gausman and Bob and Phyllis Kopsa and her great-grandparents Bill and Hazel Hartley, all of Chester; the groom's grandparents Dolan and Pauline Frye of Chester, Virgil and Frances Versch of McPherson, and Norma Wymore of Cambridge, Neb.

Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a strapless white gown of dulci satin with a bodice enhanced with beaded re-embroidered Alencon lace and with a mock Basque waistline. The full skirt, with carriage chapel train, was accented with motifs of beaded re-embroidered Alencon lace. She carried an arrangement of white roses and a lace handkerchief her mother also had carried that had been given to her by her Great-grandmother Hartley.

Kylene Baker of Norfolk, Neb., was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Amber Carlin of Lincoln, Neb., and Emalee and Sarah Versch, Marion. Junior bridesmaid was Breanna Gausman of Lincoln. Brianna Dutton served as a candle lighter. The matron of honor and junior bridesmaid wore satin eggplant floor-length A-line dresses with waist-length matching sheer jackets. The other attendants and candle-lighter wore satin midnight blue A-line floor-length dresses. Each carried a bouquet of blue delphiniums and purple lissianthus accented with silver ribbons.

Gretchen Elting of Hebron, Neb., was flower girl. She wore a white and eggplant dress designed by her grandmother. Gabe Elting, Hebron, was ring bearer. His tuxedo matched that of the groomsmen. Gabe escorted Gretchen down the aisle by way of a John Deere wagon.

Serving the groom as best man was Mitch Johnson of Lincoln, Neb. Groomsmen were Joel Versch of Marion, Adam Gausman of Byron, Neb., and Andrew Moore of Belleville. Junior groomsman was Jordan Versch of Marion. Trenton Griffin of Fairbury, Neb., served as a candle-lighter. The men wore black tuxedos with double lapels, matching vests, white shirts, and silver bow ties.

Hosts at the reception and dance at the Mill Wheel in Hubbell were Steve and Jerri Johnson and Russ and Brenda Gausman of Lincoln. Serving punch and cake were Jayne Frye of Lincoln, Jolene Dutton of Chester, Vaneta Moore of Munden, Nancy Fangmeier of Hebron, and Trudy Vanderslice of Omaha.

The bride is a 1998 graduate of Chester-Hubbell-Byron High School and was a junior at the university of Nebraska in Lincoln. She will finish her degree in English at the University of Florida in Jacksonville.

The groom is a 1998 graduate of Marion High School and a graduate of Hesston College. He currently is serving in the United State Navy on the USS Nebraska.

The couple honeymooned by sightseeing on their way to their new home on base at St. Marys, Ga.

The groom's parents hosted a brunch the morning following the wedding. Guests watched the newlyweds open their gifts.
