Wedding: Kelley and Travis Schafers
Kelley Jae Hett and Travis Jay Schafers, both of Marion, were married at 7 p.m. June 22, 2002, in a double ring ceremony held in Central Park, Marion. Pastor Bill Sherfy officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mary Ann and Keith Conyers and Barb and Steve Hett, all of Marion. She is the granddaughter of Ed and Ida Svitak, Jackie Hett, Winnie Conyers, and Evelyn Deines, all of Marion.
The groom is the son of Donna and Leonard Schafers of Newton. He is the grandson of Tillie and Tony Schafers and Howard Lacock, all of Marion, and Arlyn Bachofer of Colorado.
Sarah Lowry sang "From This Moment On" as guests were being seated. The bride's nephew Joe Svitak sang "I Will Be Here" as the bridal party walked down the aisle. The groom's uncle Dennis Schafers sang and played a guitar solo to "The Keeper of the Stars" during the ceremony.
Mary Ann Conyers attended her daughter as matron of honor. Bridesmaid was her sister Amy Woods of New Mexico.
Tony Schafers served as his grandson's best man. Groomsman was Travis Ratzloff of Kansas City.
The groom's two daughters, Jay Dee and Emily, were flower girls.
Guest book and gift attendants were Gayle Levering of Marion and Christine Luna of Maize.
A reception and dance were held at the Marion VFW. Reception attendants were Stacie Marsden of Manhattan, Becky Seadeek of Wilsey, and Laura Hiebert of Marion, cousins of the groom.
The wedding cake was made and decorated by the groom's grandmother, Tillie Schafers. Flowers were designed by the bride's parents, Mary Ann and Keith Conyers.

The bride is employed by Wichita public schools as a pre-kindergarten teacher at Adams Elementary School. She also is employed at Duckwall's and by Northview Developmental Services as a supportive home care specialist. The groom is employed by the City of Marion as a lineman and by C&J Roofing.
The couple and daughters reside at 813 Welch, Marion.
