WEDDINGS: Kristy and Jeremy Ehart

Kristy Lynn Friesen, daughter of Gary and Barbara Friesen of Hutchinson, and Jeremy James Ehart, son of Linda and David Reid of Stockton Calif., and DeWayne and Julie Ehart of Denton, Texas, were married at 4 p.m. July 20, 2002, at Talbott Lake on the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson.

The bride is the granddaughter of Ray Peters of Hutchinson and Carl and Ruby Friesen of Hillsboro. The groom's grandparents are James and Verna McGarrah of Wichita and Leslie and Leone Ehart of Coffeyville.

The Honorable Judge Tim Chambers of Hutchinson, friend of the family, officiated at the double ring ceremony.

The bride was escorted by her father to "Pachelbel-Canon in D-Major." She wore a princess panel gown of candlelight satin, The sweetheart neckline on a tank-style bodice was detailed with floral embroidery. The simple A-line skirt was accented with a small gathering to create a bustle look in the back. She carried a bouquet of 20 red roses.

Kerry Buttler of Huntsville, Texas, attended her sister as matron of honor. She wore a navy blue, princess-cut, fitted long dress with back bow and carried four long-stemmed white roses accented with silver ribbon.

DeWayne Ehart served his son as best man.

"I Do Promise You," by Paul Brandt, was played before the couple exchanged their vows.

A reception was held in the fellowship hall of South Hutchinson Mennonite Church.

The tables were decorated with ivy bowls with blue water and votive candles and navy and white balloons. The white balloons were printed with an American flag intertwining wedding rings, and the saying, "Today I Married the Finest."

The five-tier wedding cake, baked and decorated by the bride's mother, was accented with a mixture of fresh flowers. It was topped with a customized United States Marine Corps cake topper.

Both the bride and groom are graduates of Hutchinson High School. The bride attended Hutchinson Community College and presently is employed by Unified School District 308, Hutchinson. The groom is serving in the United States Marine Corps and currently is stationed at Camp Pendleton, San Diego, Calif.

The newlyweds are uncertain where they will live. It will be wherever the Marines send them.
