Wendell Peterson

Wendell E. Peterson, 79, lifelong resident of Burdick, died March 15, 2006, at his home.

Born Feb. 8, 1927, at Burdick, he was the son of Iver and Stella (Hansen) Peterson.

He graduated from Diamond Valley High School with the class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-47.

He was a member of Burdick Masonic Lodge and Burdick American Legion. He also was a member of Midian Shrine and Scottish Rite of Wichita.

On April 18, 1949, he married Mary Deane Burns at Burdick.

He was retired from Burdick Oil.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin; and his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Deane of Burdick; three sons, Burdette "Bud" and Maureen Peterson of Burdick, Bill and Judy Peterson of Herington, and Marvin Peterson of Lincolnville; three brothers, Earl and Lois Peterson, Roger Peterson, and Rolland Peterson, all of Burdick; sister, Marie Thornton of Abilene; uncle, Oliver Peterson of Burdick; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Hebron Lutheran Church, Burdick, with Pastor John Gerry officiating.

Burial was in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established with Hebron Lutheran Church or Hospice of Dickinson County.
