Westerhaus signs letter of intent
Jeff Westerhaus, a senior at Olathe East High School, Olathe, recently signed a letter of intent to play football at University of Nebraska, Kearney, a NCAA Division II school.
Westerhaus smashed the Olathe East school record for the most defensive points in a single season, as well as most tackles and sacks in a single season.
The March 12 issue of the Olathe Daily News said Westerhaus "might be the best player ever to play football at Olathe East." He recorded 62 tackles, including 13 behind the line of scrimmage. He also sacked the quarterback 12 times, recovered three fumbles, caused one, and recorded a safety, according to the newspaper article.
Westerhaus received first team all-state, all-league, all-Johnson County, all-Sun, and all-KC metro honors. He also will play in the Kansas Shrine Bowl.
He is the son of Doug and Vicki Westerhaus of Overland Park and the grandson of the late Pat and Bernadine Westerhaus.
