What a beautiful snow!
What a beautiful snow! I was receiving a treatment Thursday at St. Luke Hospital and could look out the window and see the courtyard between the living center and the hospital. Darkness was setting in and there were some lighted trees there. The permanent lamps, with their colorful shades, just made it look like a fairyland. I wanted it to stay that way forever.
In high school when the Luta froze over we would gather there with our skates and have a high old time. The skates were the kind you fastened to the sole of your shoes,. We would build a roaring fire on the river bank so we could warm up once in a while. We could cook a hot dog or toast a marshmallow if we so desired. If we could get a favorite boy to put his arm around us and skate up the river as a couple, what could be more romantic?
My favorite commercial is the one in which Dorothy Hamill skates so gracefully with those little children. She is so pretty and the music is pleasant. It is just a relief from all those noisy slam-bang ads.
I received some very interesting books for Christmas, so don't worry about me, I'm going to be very busy until long after New Years. I don't know where to start. I have already consumed a beautiful book of portraits of women over 80 with some of their thoughts. Really fascinating!
Do we want our dear little town to survive this depression? How about shopping at home? It would help the taxpayers who pay our salaries. I think about it. Life is fun, but has a serious side, too.
Happy New Year!
