What goes around comes around

What goes around comes around. The other day my daughter Mary was helping sort books at the Salina Presbyterian church. There was a box of discarded books sitting there. Mary casually picked up one and turned to the fly leaf in the front. There her surprised eyes saw the following caption: "To Betty Richardson from Eva Siebert on her 93rd birthday, 1976."

Most of you are too young to remember those ladies. The book was a beautiful, leather bound copy of the New Testament.

Mary brought the book to me and I gave it to Margaret Wolf, daughter of Betty Richardson. Margaret was delighted to receive it. We are all wondering how in the world the book got where it did and how Mary happened to pick it up. I wish the book could tell us how it all happened. We all love a mystery.

Right now I am reading a book by Tony Hellerman entitled "Seldom Disappointed." I just picked it up at the library, not knowing anything about it or the writer. It is the story of his life and quite interesting. I think men would like it.

I did finally read "Who Moved My Cheese?" It is a small book and challenging. Not what I expected. Everyone should read it. No wonder it has been on the best seller list for so many months.

Sept. 11 is going to bring back so many terrible memories. How could such a terrible thing happen and with such precision? There has been so much on TV about it. One program I saw was on the young mothers and their babies born after that date. Those babies will never know their loving fathers. I wish there was something we could do to help mend our nation's broken heart.
