Where does the money go?

Have you ever noticed the long list of traffic violations in the Marion County Record each week? I often wonder where that fine money goes.

Anyway, years ago I was on that list but can't remember if my name got in the paper or not. I was driving north on Cedar Street and started to turn left when a car passed me right at the turn and we collided.

The person in the other car was a policeman, so he couldn't cover the accident. He called the sheriff, a young guy. It was a terribly hot day in July so he had us sit in the backseat of his air-conditioned car and he sat in the front seat to write his report.

One of the questions was our ages and we were both exactly the same age, in our 70s. It was sort of amusing until guess who had to pay the fine? I still think it was partly his fault as he passed me right at a corner.

I just spent a few days in St. Luke Hospital and would like to report that I had great treatment there. We must keep our hospital. In the reception rooms they had just placed pictures of the entire staff. I was amazed at the number of people they employ.

I have lately read a couple of books, one named "Calendar Girl," by Tricia Stewart. It is written by one of the people on the calendar. The calendar was made up of British housewives who raised about half a million dollars for cancer research in England and America. Now there is a movie about them. I hear it is good.

A book by Joan Rivers, "Aging is a Kick," is so witty. Everyone over 40 should read it. I don't agree with all of it.
