Where's the sign?
Two years is a long time. Now that K-150 is open again, travelers along U.S.-50 can take the scenic route through the Flint Hills to Marion. Or can they?
Prior to the road closing, a sign at the U.S.-50/K-150 junction alerted travelers to the "shortcut" to Marion. That sign was removed long ago and has not been replaced.
Two years is a long time. Travelers may not remember Marion is at the other end of that 17-mile stretch of highway. The city is missing a great opportunity for promotion.
It may be a bit more complicated than nailing up a new sign. However, a sign is available. Efforts should be made to get it installed and not let it gather dust in some out-of-the-way place.
Marion is the best place we've seen. Let's share that with the world. Don't give travelers a reason to bypass Marion.
