White City hands loss to CJHS boys

The Centre Junior High Cougars lost Thursday to the Huskies at White City, 27-21.

The boys were down by two at half-time, but after scoring two points during the third quarter compared to six by White City, they were down by six, 20-14.

Each team scored seven points in the final quarter, resulting in Centre's six-point loss.

Ben Krause garnered 11 points including one trey and two out of four free throw attempts.

Other scorers were Konley Harding, six, and Dane Moore and Kacey Hanschu, two each.

The B team also was defeated, 53-38. White City scored a whopping 18 points in each of the first two quarters compared to six and eight for Centre, to take a half-time lead of 36-14.

The Cougars picked up their play in the second half to outscore the Huskies, 16-13, and 8-4, but it wasn't enough to close the large gap.

Josh Leach led scoring for Centre with 10 points, followed by K. Harding with eight. Other scorers were: Adam Kristek, six; Ethan Forsberg, three; Tye Remy, four; Steve Antoszyk, K. Hanschu, and Andy Carlson, two each; and Nathan Barney, one.
