Wildcats end season with 6-1 record
In the final football game of the year, the Marion Wildcats traveled Oct. 20 to Southeast of Saline and lashed out for 36 points against the Trojans.
The Wildcats finish the season with a 6-1 record.
Justin Jacobson took his first handoff 35 yards for a score. On Marion's next possession he returned a punt 29 yards for another score.
Marion was off to the races. Not many offensive plays were used because scoring came so fast.
Austin Hager rushed 11 times for 73 yards for three touchdowns and one extra point.
Jacobson rushed six times for 61 yards, two touchdowns, and one extra point.
Calvin Jeffrey rushed five times for 25 yards and one extra point.
Defensively, Hager's pass interception and 51-yard touchdown run sealed the victory for Marion.
Both Hager and Jacobson collected 13 tackles in the contest. Hank Collett added 10, Derek Riggs had eight, Adam Trapp five, Chase Carlson four, Jeffrey and Bryce Suffield three, Jacob Czarnowsky, Brett Billings, Jake Bredemeier, and Zack Helmsted, two each.
The seventh grade team tied 0-0 with Southeast of Saline to complete their season 1-2-1. Offensively the team could not sustain a drive.
