Wildcats end season with loss

Marion Middle School Wildcats finished their 2002 season on Parents' Night Thursday with a 30-8 loss at the hands of Southeast of Saline.

The lone Wildcat score came on a 49-yard pass from Jason Hett to Austin Hager.

Southeast of Saline scored quickly in the contest until the Wildcats regrouped. During the last three quarters, both Marion and Southeast of Saline played dead-even football.

Offensively, Jason Hett had 13 carries for 72 yards. He also completed three passes to Austin Hager for 59 yards and one touchdown. Travis Hett carried 15 times for 40 yards, while Kyle Hett added one carry for one yard.

Defensively, Marion's Jason Hett led with 11 tackles. Nic Waner added seven, while Travis Hett had 6; Casey Baker, five; Kyle Hett, 4; Austin Hager, 3; Hank Collett, 3; Brett Billings, 2; and Calvin Jeffrey, Ben Leppke, and Luke Bowers, one each.

Marion finishes its season with a total of four wins, three losses and with a record of three wins and one loss in the Cottonwood Valley Junior League.
