Wildcats finish with tie

Marion Middle School Wildcats football team remained unbeaten Thursday. MMS battled with Collegiate, but neither team could find the endzone in the 0-0 tie.

Despite not scoring, the Wildcats still had a good rushing attack. Drew Maddox led Marion with six carries for 75 yards. Cody Wildin chipped in with 11 carries and 63 yards. Other Wildcat rushers were Nick Klenda nine for 45 yards, Eric Vogel two for two yards, Brady Hudson two for eight yards, and Dillon Wildin one for two yards.

Tyler Neil kept Collegiate out of the endzone with 11 tackles. Maddox added four tackles, and Brian Fruechting three.

MMS will play Hesston Thursday at home in a battle of unbeatens.

The eighth grade team continued to struggle as they lost to the Spartans, 44-6.

Derek Riggs carried the ball 16 times for 67 yards in the loss. Adam Regnier added 45 yards on nine carries.

Tackling leaders for Marion were Regnier with seven, Derek Riggs six, and Klenda and Maurice Jones with three each.
