Wildcats win CVJL track meet
The Marion Middle School track team competed at the CVJL meet last week and took home the meet title.
Several school records were among some of the notable highlights.
Seventh grade boys Justin Jacobson, Austin Hager, Keith Jones, and Calvin Jeffrey broke the school record in the 4x100-meter relay event with a time of 53.06 seconds.
Jacobson also broke the school record in the long jump with a leap of 17'2".
Seventh grader Kimber Hardey set a new record in the girls' shot put event. Hardey's throw of 30'8" was enough to erase the former record.
Eighth grade girls Katie Hett, Danielle Cope, Laura Holt, and Emily Svoboda set a new school record in the girls' 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:45.5.
Eighth grader Erin Richmond set a new school record in the girls' pole vault with a vault of eight feet.
Luke Bowers, Kyle Hett, Jason Hett, and Ben Leppke broke the school record in the eighth grade boys' 4x400-meter relay event with a time of 4:12.06.
Travis Hett also set a new record in the boys' high jump with a jump of 5'6", while Leppke set a new record in the triple jump with a leap of 40'2 1/2".
