William Spinden
William "Bill" Spinden, 81, of Strong City, died Oct. 22, 2005, at Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cottonwood Falls.
Born June 11, 1924, at Burns, he was the son of Samuel and Ethel (Gray) Spinden.
He worked for Cities Services in El Dorado until 1968. He moved to Fort Collins, Colo., where he farmed and was a carpenter until 1994, when he moved back to Kansas to farm with his brother, John.
On Oct. 30, 1999, he married Rosa Bechtel Powell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fred Spinden and Chalmers Spinden; and sister, Ruth Ferro.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa of Strong City; two sons, Steve Spinden of Delta, Colo., and Dan Spinden of Fort Collins, Colo.; two daughters, Kathy Winter of Fort Collins, Colo., and Linda Knaack of Wellington, Colo.; their mother, Ruth Spinden of Wellington, Colo.; brother, John Spinden of Cottonwood Falls; two sisters, Mary Beth Collett of Marion and Helen June Countryman of Wichita, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held this morning (Wednesday) at Cottonwood Falls United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mic McGuire officiating.
Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery, Burns.
A memorial fund has been established with Hand in Hand Hospice.
