William Wyss

William W. Wyss, 89, Burns, died Feb. 21. 2003. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery at Burns.

Born Oct. 4, 1913, west of Burns, he was the son of the late Walter and Lena (Mattheyer) Wyss.

A 1932 graduate of Burns High School, he was a member of the church and served many years as church treasurer. He also served on the board of Upper Walnut Watershed, the BOD Co-op, DeGraff school board, and was a 4-H leader.

He was married to Martha Criger on Nov. 2, 1938, at the Methodist parsonage in Burns.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Darrell and Alan, both of Burns, and Clifford of Newton; two daughters, Sharon Bellis of Garden City and Loretta Patterson of Augusta; two brothers, Robert Wyss of Onaga and Richard Wyss of Burns; a sister, Betty Bowers of Wichita; nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters.

Memorial funds have been established in his name at the church, the American Heart Association, or American Cancer Society.
