Writer still intrigued by China
I'm still in China, reading about the Chian Kai-Sheks. It seems very apropos since we read so much about China's activities now and we buy articles marked "made in China." Not long ago I was watching a golf tournament on TV. Guess what? A young man named K.J. Choi won. He had a -13 and his nearest competitor was only a -4.
Ever since the 1940s and '50s, China has gradually moved to a very strong position in the world now. Back in the '40s and '50s, many prominent people in the USA became involved in the affairs in China. We even spent billions of dollars in trying to save the country from Communism.
Hey kids, next year, don't take all the candy from the bowl I placed unattended out on the porch all at once. Remember there are more children to come. Parents, maybe you could teach them not to be so greedy.
One of my granddaughters is on a Caribbean cruise. Her greatest desire was to ride on horseback on one of the beaches where they will be stopping. Knowing her, I'll bet she will accomplish her dream.
The other day I got hungry for pumpkin pie. I know, I should wait until Thanksgiving but I just couldn't. It was so good, I wish I could have shared it with you all.
I'm going to miss Pat Patterson. He was so friendly and kind to "old" ladies. He and his wife, Joyce had made a real place for themselves in the Marion community.
