Virginia Downing and John Hayen took Dorothy Hayen in her new dress and corsage to Eastmoor Sunday for church services for Mother's Day. Virginia entertained in her home for Mother's Day supper. Guests were Dorothy and John Hayen, Max and Donna Hayen, Marilyn Geis, and Charles Montgomery and his mother, Marie. Dorothy received flowers from several family members including Margie and John Talbott of Halstead. Leon Hayen was here a couple of days this past week helping John and visiting his mother, Dorothy.

Jeannine Bateman drove to Topeka Saturday. She and Kristine went to a bead show in Overland Park at the convention center. They returned to Topeka for dinner. Jeannine visited her mother, Alvina Skibbe, Sunday at Friendly Acres and found her in good spirits. She had just returned from a long ride with Jerald Skibbe from Greensburg.

Kathy and Paul Swan and Vicki Smolik went to Emporia Friday to attend the dance recital of Kandace Griffin. They were supper guests of Justin and Katrina Griffin and Kassady. Kathy and Paul and Vicki drove to Rush Center Saturday to attend the estate sale of Vicki's uncle, Rudolph and Rosie Oborny. There were a lot of antiques and things went high so Vicki didn't get to buy a remembrance.

Janelle Paden and Abigail and Rhonny Bowers were Wednesday evening guests of Shirley Bowers at the mother/daughter banquet at Eastmoor. Shirley attended a tea Friday afternoon at Valley United Methodist Church.

David and Shirley Bowers and Mary Beth Bowers and Luke were Mother's Day dinner guests of Doug and Janelle Paden, Mathew, Abigail, and Jonathan in Newton.

Bev and Kevin Jennison were Saturday overnight guests of David and Shirley Bowers and attended Sunday morning church services with them.

Cy Goertz, Naomi Nelson, and James Jost were Sunday dinner guests of Clint and Dianna Jost at their home in the Burdick community.

Eileen Sieger took Randee Loomis to the mother/daughter banquet Wednesday evening at Eastmoor. Eileen attended the annual 20th Century Club spring brunch Saturday morning at the home of Jean Case.

I had lunch Wednesday at McGillicuddys with Roseva McLinden, Gertie Mahoney, Darlene Schmidt, Marge Rediker, and Betty Ireland. Following lunch Betty came to visit me at my new home and see all the flowers that are in bloom in my yard.

Richard and Patty McLinden served Mother's Day dinner to Roseva and Chuck and Lori McLinden, Lauren and Jarret.

Mary Beth Bowers returned home Wednesday from Anchorage, Alaska, where she enjoyed visiting with Ben and Natasha and loved spoiling her granddaughter, Skyler. Skyler now knows Mary Beth as the grandmother who lives in Kansas. Mary Beth saw a moose cross Ben and Natasha's front yard and Ben took her to Hatcher Pass where she saw four and one-half feet of fallen snow still on the ground.

Vickie Fisher, Ashley and Allegra were Rosalie Klassen's guests Wednesday evening at the Eastmoor mother/daughter banquet. Rosalie went home with them to Wichita. Leonard joined Rosalie Saturday and they celebrated Mother's Day with Marv and Vickie and family.

I was Aline Bernhardt's "mother" for the banquet Wednesday evening at Eastmoor. Joe and Marj Johnson, Emily and Ethan came to my home Sunday for dinner. Joe connected all my telephones and computer, so I am back in business. Ethan painted my mailbox and yard chairs. Emily mended my bell collection that the movers destroyed. What would we do without children and grandchildren? Marj and I walked over to see the iris' at the Thad Meierhoff home and continued on to see the beautiful flowers at Pam Bowers' home. The flowers are outdoing themselves this year. It is an adventure each morning to go out and see what has bloomed overnight.
