Jeannine Bateman was in Topeka from Tuesday through Thursday at a legislative conference of county treasurers. Kristine Bateman and Jeannine took a day off from work on Friday and took in the "Treasures of the Czars" display and attended the flower and garden show in Topeka. Jeannine brought home another orchid plant. They really enjoyed seeing the beautiful coronation costumes, jewels, etc. on display. Jeannine especially liked the full dress horse costumes on display.
Paul and Jane Hett from Parsons and Roy and Rose Olive Hett met for lunch Tuesday at the Stone City Café, then drove to Abilene to visit their sister, Elma Piper. On the way home they stopped in Herington for supper. This cafe is owned by former neighbors of the Hett's.
