Youngtown: Bateman has interesting experiences at meeting

Jeannine Bateman recently returned from the National Association of County Treasurers meetings. Highlight for her was hearing Rosario Marin speak and getting to visit with her. Jeannine had her picture taken with her and Rosario signed a dollar bill for Jeannine. Jeannine plans to have the photo framed with the dollar bill. Kristine was home the weekend of the 21st and they visited Alvina Skibbe in Newton. Jerald and Daryl Skibbe were there and they had a great visit.
Lorraine Havlik visited Vicki Smolik Wednesday evening.
Cy and L.Dena Goertz and David and Shirley Bowers had lunch together Sunday at Florence. Cy and L.Dena attended Peggy Hett's sale on Saturday.
Mary Beth Bowers, Rhonny and Luke drove to Kansas City Wednesday and attended the dinner theater production, "The Scarlet Pimpernel," at the new theater in Shawnee Mission. They visited Mary Beth's cousin Charlene Keith while there. Charlene works in the office of the dinner theater. They spent the night with another cousin Debbie Firth and her children Jeanee and Jonathan. Mary Beth returned home on Thursday and Rhonny and Luke came on Friday with Charlene and Ken Keith.
Rosalene and Charles Stinchcomb camped out at Marion Reservoir this past weekend. Visitors were Dr. Charley and Barb Stinchcomb, Charlene and Ralph Janzen, Anne and Ray Janzen, Kelly and Ryan, Julie and Cory Janzen, Mike and Emma Stinchcomb, Susie and Dick Mueller, Blaine Stinchcomb, and Bonnie Zimmerman.
Melissa and Tim O'Sullivan have rented a summer home on Grand Lake. Melanie and Larry Ensey of Valley Center took Jackie Hett to Grand Lake for the weekend. The lake and surrounding country were beautiful and they had a great weekend.
Howard and Beth Collett have returned from a week long trip to Florida where they visited Beth's sister Ruth Ferro and her husband Bill. Howard and Beth drove to Whitewater Saturday to attend the wedding of Tammera Busenitz and Dalen Moody at Emmaus Mennonite Church.
I ate Sunday dinner with Gerry Mills, Betty May, and Charla Wheeler at Kingfisher's Inn. We celebrated Gerry's birthday which was Sunday.
Shelly Ratzloff visited Marie Navrat during lunch Sunday.
Bud and Roseva McLinden had coffee Sunday morning with Richard and Patty McLinden.
John and Dorothy Hayen visited with Leo and Dorothy Scharenberg at Florence Sunday noon. Dorothy Scharenberg was walking with a cane and was out for the first time following the accident in which she broke her hip.
Skip and Eileen Sieger and Dick and Patty McLinden were among the 5,000 people who attended the B1B bomber Afterburner Show Saturday night at McConnell AFB, Wichita.
Tuesday supper guests of Leonard and Rosalie Klassen were Bradley and Brenda Dahl, Samantha and Jessica of Minnesota. Calvin and Arlene Dahl joined them for supper Wednesday and stayed through Thursday noon. They ate Thursday dinner together at the Pizza Hut. Vernon and Rachel Friesen and two grandchildren, Tyler and Troy, from Texas came to visit Leonard and Rosalie. The Klassens drove to Hutchinson Saturday to attend the MAYB basketball tournament in which Kelsey Sorenson played. They brought Kelsey and Keaton home with them to spend the week.
