The Youngtown community was blessed Sunday night with almost an inch of rain. We were getting very dry here so we're all glad to have the rain.
Wilfred and Gladys Bowers of Manchester, Iowa, their daughter Janice England, her daughter Julie England, and her son Justin from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, were Monday and Tuesday overnight visitors at the David Bowers home. They were en route home from attending a celebration at McCurdy School in Espanola, N.M., where they lived previously. Others who came on Tuesday to visit them and enjoy dinner and supper together were Arlene Sittner of Hudson, Mildred Bowers, Donald Bowers, Greg and Mary Beth Bowers, Stephen, Rhonny, and Luke, and Doug and Janelle Paden, Matthew, Abigail, and Jonathan. Susan Broadhurst of Sedgwick visited in the evening.
Doug and Janelle Paden and family are now at home at 432 Meadowbrook Drive, Newton. The location is south of the Grace Community Church. Friends and relatives are welcome to stop by for a visit.
Leonard and Rosalie Klassen drove to Garden City July 20 for the wedding of their granddaughter, Tami Sorenson to Eric VanCompon. They returned home on Monday with grandchildren Aaron and Allegra Fisher. The children spent the week with them. They took them home Saturday and helped Ashley Fisher move from her dormitory room. Ashley will serve as resident manager for Friends University this next year and will be teaching a couple of classes of Spanish at Collegiate each day. Leonard and Rosalie attended a cousins reunion Sunday in Hillsboro. They visited with four cousins from California that they hadn't seen for 30 years. A special guest was an uncle, Fred Friesen, who is 93.
Skip Sieger and Dick McLinden flew to Oshkosh, Wis., this past weekend to the air show. They had a wonderful time during the three days they attended.
Shirley and David Bowers and Harold Bowers drove to Roxbury Sunday morning to attend the church where Vernon Bowers serves. Vernon invited Shirley to be the guest pianist.
Shirley and David Bowers, Greg and Mary Beth Bowers, Rhonny and Luke, and Doug and Janelle Paden, Mathew, Abigail, and Jonathan attended the Heller/Higgins reunion Sunday noon at the county lake. Shirley, David, Greg, Mary Beth, Rhonny, and Luke visited the Paden family at their home in Newton Sunday evening and went out to eat to celebrate Doug's birthday.
Gerry Mills, Charla Wheeler, and I ate lunch together Sunday at Kingfisher's Inn.
I have a big whole cloth quilt in here at home. I need to get it done before the end of September. Along with computer classes twice a week, I am a little busier than I like to be. I'll try to have more news next week. I'll be finished with these classes then.
