Youngtown: Brendan Kraus graduates from KSU

Brendan Kraus completed studies at Kansas State University in Manhattan Friday and received a Doctor of Veterinarian Science degree. Those attending were Don and Vickie Kraus, Raymond and Rita Kraus, Melanie Dunn, Grant and Triston, Kristi Mercer and Colton, Nick Kraus and Stephanie Koop, Lori Herzet, Kim Kline, and Brendan's fiancée, Tina Wood. Don and Vickie hosted a graduation party after the ceremonies.

Don and Vickie attended graduation exercises at Marion. They and Nick Kraus were guests at an after-graduation party honoring David Tharp, hosted by his parents, Blair and Nancy Tharp.

A bridal shower was given for Tina Woods by her co-teachers on Monday at Wellsville, Vickie Kraus also attended.

Jackie Hett attended after-graduation party for Stacia Williams at Florence, hosted by her parents, Roger and Laura Williams. Jackie also attended graduation party for David Tharp.

Roy and Rose Olive Hett, Glen and Pam Hett, and Shirley and David Bowers attended funeral services for Albert Piper Thursday afternoon.

Ken and Margie Nienstedt helped Gary and Janet Nesser move into their trailer Saturday. All enjoyed a steak supper together. The Nienstedts and Nessers met at Antelope Sunday for yard work and a wiener roast.

Youngtown Women met Thursday morning at Marion Manor for coffee, rolls, and visiting. Those attending were Marilyn Cox, Shirley Bowers, Helen Stromberg, Leah Sellers, Josie Giesbrecht, Alvina Hoffman, L.Dena Goertz, Rose Olive Hett, Virginia Downing, Rosalie Klassen, and Margaret Ireland.

Cy and L.Dena Goertz and Shirley and David Bowers drove to Cedar Point Sunday morning to sing for the worship service at the church. Afterward they drove to Florence and sang for the Florence Christian Church. Following the services Leonard and Rosalie Klassen, David and Shirley Bowers, Ray and Eleanor Davidson, and Cy and L.Dena Goertz lunched together at the Chuckwagon Restaurant.

Diana and Clint Jost and James and John visited Cy and L.Dena Sunday afternoon. John leaves Monday morning for Ulysses where he will be working this summer.

Edmund Steiner and Vicki Smolik went to Phillipsburg last weekend to spend Mother's Day with Rod and Katerina Linton, Ashley and Lacey. All attended confirmation services Saturday evening for Ashley. Vicki attended a reception Sunday in Canton at the home of Dennis and Linda Wedel honoring their daughters, Emily and Laura, who graduated from college this spring.

Edmund and Vicki attended graduation exercises for Tyler Diepenbrock at Centre High School and the party following at the home of his parents, Gary and Pam Diepenbrock.

Paul and Kathy Swan, Tim and Becky Makovec, Morgan and Tyler, and Edmund Steiner helped Vicki celebrate her birthday Sunday with cake and other goodies.

Skip Sieger flew to El Dorado Saturday morning for a "fly-in-breakfast" at the airport.

Leonard and Rosalie Klassen visited Leonard's great aunt Viola Jost Sunday afternoon at Parkside in Hillsboro to celebrate her 100th birthday. They also visited Lillian Plett while at Parkside.

Howard and Beth Collett attended graduation exercises Sunday for Matthew Spinden at Peabody. Afterward they attended a graduation party honoring Andy Matz at the Burdick United Methodist Church. The Colletts hosted a barbecue Friday evening for 14 co-teachers at El Dorado Middle School.

Gerry Mills, Charla Wheeler, Martha Hood, and Margaret Ireland shared Sunday dinner together.

It's cold today and I have on my furnace. The iris' and peonies are blooming beautifully in spite of rain and cold weather.

Virginia Downing and Marilyn Geis attended graduation exercises of Joel Thomas from a plumbing, air conditioning, and heating school. He will be working for Flaming's Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning Co.

Max Hayen visited his mother, Dorothy last weekend.

Faye and Jerry Makovec went to Adam Turk's graduation Saturday at Baldwin City. They attended graduation exercises Sunday at Herington. The Makovecs also attended a reception Sunday evening for Jared Smith at the Marion Country Club.
