We received three showers last week totaling from .50 to .75 of an inch of much needed moisture. Dorothy Hayen reported .70 and 54 degrees of temperature. I thought for a while this morning that I would need to turn on the furnace to take the chill off the house. But, after my morning exercises and a hot breakfast, I didn't think it was so cold. The trees are dropping their leaves due to the dry weather and I do hope there will be enough left to have a pretty Fall.

Harry and Lola Jost of Volko, Okla., cousins of Leonard and Rosalie Klassen and houseguests of Ed and Margaret Hein, enjoyed Sunday dinner together at the Tabor College cafeteria. Ray and Eleanor Davidson were Sunday evening visitors of the Klassens.

Bud McLinden attended the funeral of Earl Remmers Wednesday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Florence. He attended the funeral of Shirley Richards on Thursday at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion.

Six member of the Youngtown FCE met at the Pizza Hut in Hillsboro Wednesday for lunch. A lesson and short business meeting followed at the Hillsboro Senior Center. The lesson was on the fats we should have in our diets. We were a bit surprised to hear we could eat some fat, so enjoyed the lesson. Members present were LuCretia Winkley, Roseva McLinden, Lorene Smith, Darlene Schmidt, Gertie Mahoney, and Margaret Ireland.

Rosalene and Charles Stinchcomb have returned from a week-long trip to Colorado. They visited Hazel Selvy and Betty and Gary Deivel. They brought Colorado weather home with them.

Amber Ratzloff spent Saturday night and Sunday with her grandmother, Marie Navrat. Shelly Ratzloff joined them for lunch Sunday. Marie attended Harvest House in Florence Friday.

Betsy Bunnel and Kelli spent Friday night with David and Shirley. Shirley accompanied them on Saturday to the Kansas State Fair at Hutchinson. David, Shirley, Greg, Mary Beth, Luke and Rhonny Bowers took part in the Eastmoor church hayrack ride and wiener roast Sunday night. Cy and L. Dena Goertz played Skipbo with David and Shirley Sunday night.

Alvina Hoffman, Shirley Bowers, Rose Olive Hett, and Margaret Ireland attended the Eastmoor UMW meeting Wednesday afternoon.

Jeannine Bateman was in Wichita from Wednesday through Friday attending a meeting of the Kansas County Treasurers' Association. She enjoyed this one because she could just sit back and listen for a change. Jeannine and her college friends, Hazel Bertrand, toured Lindsborg on Saturday. They took in all the art galleries and other things of interest.

I drove into Wichita early Sunday morning and got to see the sunrise through my rear view mirrors. What a beautiful big orange ball it is at this time of the year. I ate dinner at the church with Wilma Johnson and returned home Sunday afternoon.
