Cy and L.Dena Goertz attended the 90th birthday party and supper of Cy's cousin, Frances Maxton on Saturday, hosted by Donna Sorenson of McPherson and Janice Morris of Junction City. Supper was at the Kansas Sampler in Inman. Cy and L.Dena attended Easter services at Eastmoor and drove out to the Roy Hett farm following church, parked their car, and were picked up by Diana and Clint Jost, John and James to go to Augusta for Easter dinner at the home of Pete and Ruth Lawlor (Clint Jost's sister). Nick and Beth Weibert joined them in the afternoon. Nick and Beth will be moving to Fort Collins, Colo., at the end of the school year and will be attending school there this summer.
Skip and Eileen Sieger attended the funeral service on Saturday of Eileen's cousin, Alice Litton, in Peabody. Alice was 102 years old and her mind remained clear to the end. It was her dream to live in three centuries, which she accomplished, having been born in 1899. Eileen always enjoyed visiting with her and hearing her stories from past years.
Kristine Bateman was home for the weekend. She and Jeannine drove to the home of Alvina Skibbe in Newton for Easter dinner. They were joined there by Gerald Skibbe. All came back to St. Luke Hospital in the afternoon to visit R.J. He is doing much better and hopefully will get home this week.
Dorothy and John Hayen and Virginia Downing attended Easter services at Eastmoor, then had lunch together at McGillicuddy's. Brent and Paula Hayen are here from North Carolina and had dinner with John and Dorothy last Monday. Dorothy has invited them for dinner at her home tonight (Monday). They return to North Carolina on Friday.
Vickie Smolik hosted her family's Easter dinner Saturday noon. Invited guests were Paul and Kathy Swan, Tim and Becky Makovec, Morgan and Tyler, and Justin and Katrina Griffin, Kandace and Kassidy. They had an egg hunt for the children in the afternoon. The whole family attended church services Saturday night at St. Mark's in Marion.
We had excellent Easter weather this weekend — no wind and warm, sunshine days. Emily Johnson drove out from Wichita for lunch Saturday and stayed overnight. She went to church with me Easter morning. We were joined for Easter dinner by Joe and Marj Johnson and Ethan of Wichita. Emily had to go back to Wichita at two Sunday afternoon to work, but Marj, Joe, and Ethan stayed until evening. Ethan and Joe did some target practice and Marj and I had a nice visit.
Shirley and David Bowers were Friday evening dinner guests of Bob and Judy Priest.
Jordan and Regan Morton of Olathe and Lauren and Jarret McLinden, great-grandchildren of Bud and Roseva McLinden, went Easter egg hunting at Florence Saturday morning with their parents.
Richard and Patty McLinden, Chuck and Lori McLinden, Lauren and Jarret and Susie and Craig Morton, Regan and Jordan met Bud and Roseva McLinden for lunch Saturday noon at the Pizza Hut. Patty and Richard entertained the whole group for supper Saturday night.
Bud and Roseva McLinden drove out Sunday morning to Richard and Patty's to watch the great-grandkids hunt Easter eggs and had brunch there. Bud and Roseva drove through Cassoday Sunday afternoon and through the several thousand acres of accidental pasture burn that occurred last week.
Howard and Beth Collett and John and Rita Spinden drove to Wichita Friday night to see "My Fair Lady" at Century II. Weekend visitors at the Collett farm were Don Argo of El Dorado, Nancy and Doug Hammond of Augusta, and Keith and Ann Collett, Hank, Lucy, and Caroline.
Alvina Hoffman received another Easter lily on Saturday from Laverne and Sheila Hoffman of Ventura, Calif., and a corsage from Heike Reagen Hoffman. Kathy Hurst brought a tray of treats to Alvina's apartment Saturday afternoon and they had coffee together. Evelyn Mott took Alvina to Easter services at Eastmoor Sunday morning.
Emily Johnson brought me an interesting Easter gift — A big Easter basket with a beautiful doll in it. I collect dolls and have purchased many for Marj and my granddaughter, but never expected to get one from one of them. I've never had a big Easter basket, so this was a welcome surprise.
Greg and Mary Beth Bowers, Rhonny, Steve, and Luke went to the county lake for Easter sunrise services. Mary Beth said it was cold out there even though later in the day they needed fans in the house. Greg and Mary Beth and kids hosted Easter dinner for Charles and JoAnn Kjellin, Shirley and David Bowers, Doug and Amy Kjellin, Erik, Andrew, and Adam, and Pat and Daryl Enos and Mitch. The family also celebrated Rhonny's birthday which was the 31st. Mary Beth did a wild flower slide presentation on Tuesday of last week to MOP, "Mothers of Preschoolers," in Hillsboro.
Arlene and Calvin Dahl of Maple Grove, Minn., came Wednesday night to visit Leonard and Rosalie Klassen and stayed overnight. All attended the 60+ meeting at Tabor Thursday morning then drove to Wichita to hear Aaron Fisher's 4th grade school program. Aaron played a villain in the presentation and did a good job.
Cora and Don Sorenson, Kami, Kelsie, Kelly, and Keaton and Vickie and Marv Fisher, Ashley, Aaron, and Allegra were Easter guests of Leonard and Rosalie Klassen. They were joined for supper by Calvin and Arlene Dahl. We saw the grandchildren riding the 4-wheeler Sunday afternoon so knew they were having a great weekend.
Easter dinner guests of Faye and Jerry Makovec were Tim and Becky Makovec, Morgan and Tyler and Jeff Makovec. They enjoyed an egg hunt with the kids Sunday afternoon.
