Youngtown: First Stika reunion held Sunday

Teresa Linton, Ashley and Lacey of Phillipsburg came Saturday to visit Vicki Smolik and attend the first Stika reunion held Sunday at St. Mark's Activity Center. It was a potluck dinner with visiting and picture taking. Those attending were Vicki Smolik, Teresa Linton, Ashley and Lacey, Paul and Kathy Swan, Kandace and Kassidy Griffin (their parents had the flu), Edmund Steiner, Tim and Becky Makovec, Morgan and Tyler, Louis and Sarah Stika, Rita Tomlinson, Doug and Janet Marler, Kevin and Karen Marler, Tori and Kaitlynn, Valarion and Delores Stika, Vernon and Henrietta Waner, David and Tena Waner, Nick and Neil, Craig and Carol Leppke, Darrell and Holly Waner and Kena, Mike and Valerie Waner and Sydney, and Ryan and Lena Cleiner and Kaden.
Vicki Smolik, Edmund Steiner, and Teresa Linton, Ashley and Lacey were Saturday supper guests of Paul and Kathy Swan.
Tim and Becky Makovec and Tyler, with the help of Kathy and Paul Swan and Faye Makovec, hosted a party Saturday afternoon for Morgan's seventh birthday.
Rose and Greg Davidson attended the Harvest House supper and card party Saturday night at St. Mark's Activity Center.
Sarah Davidson, a sophomore at Marion High School, placed 1st and 6th Saturday at the forensics tournament at Berean Academy. Rachel was an alternate at the spelling bee in Goessel Wednesday.
Marie Navrat attended the Harvest House supper and card party Saturday night.
Alvina Hoffman, Shirley Bowers, Rose Olive Hett, and Margaret Ireland attended the general UMW meeting and soup supper Wednesday night at Eastmoor United Methodist Church.
Kristine Bateman spent the weekend with Jeannine and R.J., helping R.J. celebrated his birthday which was Thursday.
Max and Donna Hayen invited John and Dorothy Hayen to their home for a birthday dinner to celebrate the February birthdays in the Hayen family. Honored guests were Max and John Hayen and Virginia Downing.
Cy and L.Dena Goertz were Sunday night supper guests of Ray and Eleanor Davidson. Cy and L.Dena took the Hilltop residents and Aline Bernhardt and Lavera Bernhardt to Burns Friday night for dinner.
Youngtown FCE met Thursday morning for the lesson, "Healthy at Any Size," given by the McPherson county agent at the Hillsboro City Building. We had our business meeting at the Hillsboro library following the lesson. Those present were LuCretia Winkley, Lorene Smith, Gertie Mahoney, Darlene Schmidt, Roseva McLinden, and Margaret Ireland.
Eileen Sieger was a judge Thursday at the forensics tournament at Marion High School. Skip Sieger and other Marion County pilots flew to the airport near Paola Saturday for a barbecue supper.
Bill and JoAnn Fitzpatrick hosted a Valentine party Thursday at September Apartments. Guests were Alvina Hoffman, Josephine Stroda, Alberta Bartlett, Alberta Olsen, Evelyn Mott, Agnes Pecinovsky, Annie Hanschu, Elfie Switzer, Helen Bailey, Kathy Hurst, Clara Razor, Ruth Bessel, and Bernice Herbel.
Roseva McLinden attended the funeral of Martin Jantz Saturday morning.
I ate Sunday dinner with Gerry Mills, Charla Wheeler, Martha Hood, and Betty May at McGillicuddy's.
Jackie Hett baby-sat with her great-grandson, Peyton Ensey in Valley Center Friday. She bowled in a tournament in Hillsboro on Saturday and Sunday. Jackie and Gerry Williams had dinner together Sunday noon at McGillicuddy's.
After attending church Saturday, Ray and Rita Kraus had supper at the Harvest House held in St. Mark's Activity Center.
Rhonny Bowers is one of the managers of the Marion High School wrestling team. She attended the regional tournament this past weekend. Six of the team members qualify for the state tournament this week.
Leonard and Rosalie Klassen and Vernon and Rachel Friesen had Valentine dinner in Wichita Thursday. They stopped to visit Vickie Fisher and enjoyed a cup of coffee with her. Leonard and Rosalie attended the ball game at Tabor College Saturday night. They had dinner Sunday with Richard and Wanda Harms of Newton and Leonard and Merlie Friesen of Hillsboro at the Tabor College cafeteria. Leonard's aunt, Louise Friesen, celebrated her 90th birthday Sunday afternoon at the Salem Home chapel. There was a program by her children at 2:30 p.m., followed by a reception at 3:30. Leonard and Rosalie attended this function. The Klassens were supper guests Monday night of Ray and Eleanor Davidson.
