Marilyn Geis has returned from a tour to the southern part of Ireland with her cousin, Roberta Allard. Her first meal was a mediaeval meal served in a castle. It started off with a drink of mead, whisky, and honey. Marilyn managed a sip and had enough. The meal was mostly finger food.

They didn't sleep in a castle because they weren't heated and would have been very uncomfortable. All their meals were three courses and served beautifully.

Ireland has gone from a poverty country to the third richest country in the world. We rank second and they hope to soon overtake us. Marilyn was surprised to see six foot six and seven both men and women in Ireland. The people are beautifully dressed and wear a lot of lovely colored wool clothing.

Their fields are fenced with 400-year-old rock fences and trimmed hedges.

Marilyn went to church Sunday at St. Patrick Cathedral in Dublin. She has memories to last a life time. Lucky Marilyn!

Mary Ann and Ivan Lee Timms and Leonard and Rosalie Klassen ate dinner together Wednesday night to celebrate their wedding anniversaries and then visited at the Klassen home. Leonard and Rosalie enjoyed the Marion High School musical Friday night.

Marilyn Cox visited Roy and Rose Olive Hett Wednesday afternoon.

Leon Hayen came to visit Dorothy and John Hayen Tuesday and they ate dinner out. They were joined in the afternoon by Marilyn Geis, Virginia Downing, and Max Hayen. Marilyn told them about her tour to Ireland. Roma and Bill Skaggs visited Dorothy Saturday afternoon. They came with gifts. One was a jar of pickles Roma had made from vegetables grown in her garden and the recipe she used was her mother's that is in the Youngtown cookbook. Roma and Bill spent the night in Marion with Stacey and Carla Collett and family.

Vicki Smolik and Edmund Steiner drove to Phillipsburg this past weekend to visit Rod and Theresa Linton, Ashley and Lacy. They returned home on Tuesday. Edmund and Vicki and Lorraine Havlik went to Wilson Sunday to the grand opening of the rebuilt Opera House. They had a traditional Czech meal with dancing following.

Sunday dinner guests of David and Shirley Bowers were Doug and Janelle Paden, Mathew, Abigail, and Jonathan. They were joined in the afternoon by Greg and Mary Beth Bowers, Rhonny and Luke to celebrate Abigail's 13th birthday. Shirley Bowers was a supper guest of the Christian Church CWF meeting Wednesday evening. She took them a display and program of her Christmas crèches.

L.Dena Goertz attended the Eastmoor women's combined meeting Wednesday night.

Eileen and Skip Sieger and other members of the Come Join Us class surprised Ruth Viets at Kingfisher's Inn Thursday night with birthday dinner. Eileen and Skip drove to Emporia on Sunday to a Girl Scout concert featuring Melinda Carroll backed by a chorus of Emporia Girl Scouts.

Mrs. Gail Moeder, a niece of Bud McLinden's, and Richard and Patty McLinden visited Bud and Roseva McLinden Sunday afternoon.

Ray and Rita Kraus went to the Caprice Ballroom Sunday to the 50th wedding anniversary celebration dinner and reception honoring Joe and Alice Jacobs.
