Youngtown: Goertz hosts Eastern Star dinner

L.Dena Goertz invited the past matrons and patrons of the Marion Chapter of Eastern Star to her home Wednesday evening for a carry-in dinner. Those present were Carlton and Lilla Mae Gates, Loren and Mildred Cox of Newton, Ruth and Connie Fisher, and Carol Dvorak. Guests were John Dvorak and Cy Goertz. Diana and Clint Jost visited the Goertzs Sunday afternoon following a visit to Maurice Casey in Marion.
Shirley and David Bowers and Greg and Mary Beth Bowers visited Sunday evening in the home of Susan Broadhurst at Council Grove City Lake. Other guests were Dr. Richard Bowers of Chattanooga, Tenn., Verle Bowers of Herington and his son and wife Jim and Sharon Bowers of Great Bend, and Warren and Paula Fike of Ramona. David and Shirley attended the Farm Bureau dinner Saturday evening at the Marion City Building.
Jeannine Bateman picked up her mother, Alvina Skibbe, in Newton Friday night and took her for a drive through the country, ending at her home here in Youngtown. They visited, then Jeannine took her back to Newton. Jeannine attended the first district Republican Women's meeting Saturday evening at the Winery in Salina.
Edmund Steiner and Vicki Smolik attended the Mass Saturday evening honoring Robert and Karen Konarik's 25th wedding anniversary and the dinner, and dance at the Pilsen Community Center.
Samantha Hett visited her grandparents, Roy and Rose Olive Hett, Thursday afternoon before she started school.
Virginia Downing and Marilyn Geis spent Saturday afternoon with Dorothy Hayen. Max Hayen visited Dorothy and John Sunday afternoon.
Alvina Hoffman and I ate dinner together Sunday at Florence. While there we visited a few minutes with Dorothy Hayen, Virginia Downing, and Dorothy Scharenberg.
We had several nice showers last week, making the lawns grow. I had several surprise lilies pop up in my big flower garden south of the house.
Karen Kelly came from Nixa, Mo., Saturday to visit her father, Charles Kjellin. Karen and Charles visited Pat and Daryl Enos and Mitch Saturday night. Mary Beth and Greg Bowers, Rhonny, Steve, and Luke invited Karen and Charles for Sunday dinner.
Howard and Beth Collett attended funeral services for Joan Bowers at the Marion Lutheran church. Steve Collett celebrated his birthday with dinner Saturday with Howard and Beth. The Colletts and Bill and Georgia Higgins ate dinner together Wednesday noon at Kingfisher's Inn.
Gerri Williams and Jackie Hett attended the celebration honoring Bob Delk's 80th birthday Sunday afternoon at the Aulne United Methodist Church. Bob and the boys played musical renditions for around an hour which were enjoyed by all present.
Rose and Greg Davidson, Rachel, Sarah, and Christine Schwarz attended the 25th wedding anniversary dinner and dance Saturday evening at the Pilsen Community Hall honoring Robert and Karen Konarik.
