I took a birthday cake to Alvina Hoffman Tuesday to help her celebrate her 95th birthday on Wednesday. Lavera Bernhardt and Sadie Bernhardt came early on Wednesday to wish Alvina a happy birthday and brought her tulips. Evelyn Mott organized the September ladies and they had a party in Alvina's honor. Guests were Julie Boydston, LaDonna Westhafer, Annie Hanschu, Elfie Switzer, Bernice Thies, Kathy Hurst, Billy Hurtig, Nicky Hoffman, and Virginia Downing. Alvina received over 40 birthday cards and is enjoying them. She had the cards standing open on her coffee table.
Rose and Greg Davidson and Rachel and Christine Swartz attended the Kiwanis honor banquet Monday. Rose went on Tuesday to Rachel and Christine's track meet in Marion. Rachel, Sarah, and Christine competed at the state forensic tournament on Saturday. Rose accompanied the girls and observed the competition.
Mary Ann and Ivanlee Timm brought supper to Leonard and Rosalie Klassen Wednesday night and stayed to eat with them.
L.Dena Goertz and Shirley Bowers attended the friendship tea Friday afternoon at Eastmoor.
Shirley and David Bowers drove to Cedar Point Saturday evening for the high school alumni banquet. David graduated from high school 60 years ago this spring. Ray and Jeff Davidson brought the program for the banquet. Brian and Shelinda Bowers, Jordan and Paige were Friday overnight and Saturday guests of David and Shirley. David and Shirley went to Newton Tuesday and spent the night with Doug and Janelle Paden and family. Shirley and Janelle drove to Wichita Tuesday evening to the Cotillion to attend the Taste Of Home cooking school. Shirley Bowers and John Goering had the services at Marion Manor Sunday afternoon and visited with Helen and Benard Stromberg.
Rita and Ray Kraus went to Wichita Friday afternoon to attend the Midwestern Kansas Polkatennial at the Cotillion Ballroom. They returned home Saturday evening.
Roseva McLinden and Richard and Patty McLinden attended the Cedar Point alumni banquet Saturday evening. Bud graduated high school there the spring of 1932.
Virginia Downing visited Dorothy and John Hayen Sunday afternoon.
John Jost and Tory Hecht from Manhattan came to the Goertz farm Saturday and helped Cy and L.Dena with yard cleanup. Dianna and Clint Jost visited the Goertzs Thursday evening.
Eileen Sieger attended the Girl Scout Council of the Flint Hills annual meeting last Monday at the Amend Center in Emporia. She helped present awards to the volunteers. Skip and Eileen attended the funeral services for Phyllis Melton Monday afternoon. Eileen met with the St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary board Monday morning and attended the coffee and program on Thursday at the living center. Jeannine Bateman and Eileen made the rounds of the garage sales and came home with a lot of junk.
I was in Wichita Saturday and Sunday to help granddaughter Emily Johnson get dressed for her senior prom. This is the third and last of my granddaughters to graduate from high school and the only one I got to help get ready for a prom. The other two live in Montana.
