Youngtown: Leon helps out

Leon Hayen came Wednesday to help John Hayen with electrical problems. The problem was soon solved and Leon, Dorothy, John, Virginia Downing, and Marilyn Geis had a good afternoon visit.

Sarah and Rachel Davidson and Christine Schwarz went to the school dance Saturday night and had a good time. Greg Davidson visited his uncle, Lloyd Davidson, last Sunday in Emporia.

Roy and Rose Olive Hett and Marvin and Mary Mae Hett attended the Harmony Sunday school class Christmas dinner and gift exchange Thursday evening at Eastmoor. Leonard and Rosalie Klassen picked me up and took me to the dinner. That was a nice treat. Alvina Hoffman was at the dinner, Helen Jantz furnished her transportation.

Jeannine Bateman drove to Wichita Saturday and had dinner with Beth and Carrie Bateman. Jeannine visited Kristine in Topeka Sunday.

Vicki Smolik, Paul and Kathy Swan, Tim and Becky Makovec, Morgan and Tyler, and Faye and Jerry Makovec attended Morgan's PSR Christmas party and potluck dinner Saturday evening at St. Mark's Activity Center. Vicki, the Swans, and the Tim Makovec family drove to Emporia Thursday evening for Kandace Griffin's Christmas program at Sacred Heart school. Faye and Jerry went to Pittsburg Saturday to attend a basketball game in which Aaron Makovec played.

David and Shirley Bowers joined Janelle Paden in Newton Friday afternoon to view the 400 nativity sets on display at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Skip and Eileen Sieger attended a dinner-theater production Tuesday at the "New Theater" in Overland Park. They went to the Farmland Industries annual meeting Wednesday at the Hyatt in Kansas City. Skip attended his flying club's Christmas dinner and gift exchange Saturday evening in Hillsboro while Eileen attended the 20th Century Club party and gift exchange. The group started the evening at the Marion High School Singers concert at the city building. Eileen said the concert was great. They then went to the home of Terri Colburn for refreshments and a gift exchange.

Cy and L.Dena Goertz and Shirley and David Bowers had lunch together Sunday at Florence. The Goertzs and Shirley Carlson attended the city employees' banquet at the country club.

The potluck Christmas dinner and gift exchange of the Youngtown FCE was hosted Tuesday by Judy Christensen. Members present were Gertie Mahoney, LuCretia Winkley, Darlene Schmidt, Lorene Smith, Betty Ireland, and Margaret Ireland.

One day last week, Virginia Downing took a group of women around Marion in the senior citizens' van to see the Christmas lights. Alvina Hoffman was one of those who got to see the beautiful lights.

Richard and Joyce Kellison visited Leonard and Rosalie Klassen Sunday afternoon.

Jackie Hett has returned from her trip to Branson, Mo. She spent last week with the Peabody church group attending Christmas programs there.
