Leonard and Rosalie Klassen were proud grandparents Friday night at the baccalaureate service for the class of 2002 of Friends University at the Coliseum, Wichita. Their granddaughter, Ashley Fisher, was one of the graduates — graduating with a 4.0 average and receiving a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish. A reception followed at Ashley's home hosted by her family, Marv and Vickie Fisher, Allegra and Aaron. Other guests were Marv's parents Gladys and Robert Fisher of Kalona, Iowa, Cora and Don Sorenson, Kami, Kelsie, and Keaton of Holcomb. As president of the student government this year, Ashley gave the closing prayer at the exercises. The Klassens and Robert Fishers were honored guests on Sunday for Mother's Day at the Marv Fisher home.
Leonard and Rosalie Klassen attended the funeral for Dave Breese on Thursday at Parkview in Hillsboro.
Weekend houseguest of Rose and Greg Davidson, Sarah and Rachel was Rose's sister, Michelle Lopez.
Jackie Hett was a Sunday dinner guests of Melinda and Ken Helmer, Leslie and Lauren in Andover, then drove to the Coliseum to attend the Valley Center high school graduation exercises for Joel Ensey, son of Melanie and Larry Ensey. Jackie and Steve and Barb Hett of Marion were guests at the after graduation party held at the Ensey home in Valley Center following the ceremonies.
Dorothy Hayen was awarded the prize for being the oldest mother present Sunday morning at Eastmoor United Methodist Church. Brent and Paula Hayen visited Dorothy and John on Saturday and Max and Donna Hayen were Sunday afternoon visitors.
The Rev. Marilyn Cox called on Roy and Rose Olive Hett on Wednesday. She also visited Samantha Hett before her surgery on Thursday.
Skip Sieger and the Rev. Don Mashburn were visitors this week of R.J. Bateman. Kristine Bateman was home for Mother's Day. She and Jeannine visited Alvina Skibbe on Saturday at Newton.
Diana and Clint Jost and Beth and Nick Wybert brought a carry-in Mother's Day supper to Cy and L.Dena Goertz Sunday evening.
Beth and Howard Collett had Sunday dinner in El Dorado with Don Argo. Keith and Anne Collett, Hank, Lucy, and Caroline and Rick and Collette Erickson were Sunday afternoon visitors of Howard and Beth.
Shirley and David Bowers drove to Welda Friday afternoon and Shirley attended a mother-daughter salad supper with Betsy and Kelli Bunnel. They stayed the night and returned home Saturday. Shirley and David met Bev and Kevin Jennison in Emporia Sunday for a Mother's Day dinner.
Roy Hett called a final meeting of the Youngtown United Methodist Church congregation Tuesday morning at Hilltop Manor. Shirley Bowers and L.Dena Goertz served coffee and cookies to the Rev. John Goering, Roy and Rose Olive Hett, David Bowers, Cy Goertz, Eleanor and Ray Davidson, John and Dorothy Hayen, Alvina Hoffman, Leonard and Rosalie Klassen, and Margaret Ireland. The group needed to voted on what is to be done with the last of the money in the Youngtown treasury.
Charla Wheeler drove Martha Hood, Gerry Mills, Betty May, and Margaret Ireland to the Ramona tea party Saturday afternoon. Betty's name was drawn for one of the door prizes. There was quite a group of women there from Marion.
Those wishing to decorate graves at Grant Township Cemetery early, can reach the cemetery by driving east of Marion to Zebulon Road, then either north or south a mile and on east to the cemetery. There should be rocked access there. Eileen Sieger says the memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. May 27 and K-150 will be open.
Alvina Hoffman received a huge bouquet of flowers from LaVerne and Sheila Hoffman and a corsage from Heike Reagen Hoffman for Mother's Day.
Marj and Joe Johnson, Emily and Ethan came to my house for Mother's Day dinner. Joe brought my computer and gave me another lesson. I hope to soon be able to do my news on it, along with lots of other fun things.

Mary Beth and Greg Bowers attended the Randy Travis concert Saturday night at Central Christian Church in Wichita.
Roseva McLinden went to the district FCE Recognition Day on Tuesday. The Youngtown FCE received a certificate for getting its reports in on time.
Richard and Patty McLinden hosted Mother's Day dinner at Kingfisher's Inn for Bud and Roseva McLinden, then drove to Hillsboro to attend the dance recital of Lauren McLinden, daughter of Chuck and Lori McLinden.
Afternoon callers at the Charles Stinchcomb home were Mike and Emma Stinchcomb, Charlene and Ralph Janzen, Blaine Stinchcomb, and Bonnie Zimmerman. Rosalene received a lot of flowers and is really enjoying them.
