Youngtown: Navrat hosts Easter dinner

Granddaughter Ashley Ratzloff was a Wednesday evening supper guest of Marie Navrat. Amber also spent Saturday night with Marie. Easter Sunday dinner guests of Marie were Pat Navrat, Ron and Deb Navrat, Joe and Lisa Navrat, Bob and Donna Cherry, and Shelly Ratzloff, Ashley, Amber, and Samantha.

Roy Hett, Dorothy and John Hayen, and Howard and Beth Collett reported attending the Saturday morning reception at McGillicuddy's honoring Harold Bowers' 90th birthday.

Dorothy and John Hayen and Virginia Downing attended Easter services at Eastmoor, then drove to Florence for Easter dinner. Dorothy reported almost two inches of rain during the weekend.

I visited Eleanor Davidson at St. Luke Hospital Thursday afternoon. I continued on to Wichita where I attended the JROTC awards ceremony at Heights High School. Granddaughter Major Emily Johnson received the Daughters of the American Revolution award.

Rita and Raymond Kraus drove to Wichita Sunday. They visited Dennis and Joyce Kraus for a few minutes, then went on to have dinner with Paul and Diane Kraus, Jason and Aaron.

Nicky Hoffman visited Alvina Hoffman and took her an Easter lily. It had seven blossoms on it and Alvina is enjoying having it in her apartment.

Rosalie Klassen came home from the hospital last Monday. Tuesday night callers were Ray and Jamie Helmer. Norma Nickelson came Wednesday with lunch and spent the day with Rosalie while Leonard was away from the farm. Easter Sunday visitors, complete with all the fixings for dinner and supper, were Cora and Don Sorenson, Kelsie, Kelly, and Keaton from Holcomb, Kami and Eric VanCampon from Victoria, and Vickie Fisher, Ashley, Aaron, and Allegra from Wichita. Marv Fisher was ill so couldn't be with the family.

Howard and Beth Collett were in Newton Friday for the wedding of Sasha Brooks to Andre Kosminski. Howard, Beth, and Don Argo were Sunday dinner guests of Rick and Collette Erickson in Chapman.

Guests of Edmund Steiner from Nevada were Jim Gutsch, Mike Gutsch, and Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Gutsch. Vicki Smolik joined them Friday evening for supper at the Lost Springs restaurant. Vicki, Edmund, and Jerry and Faye Makovec attended the first wedding anniversary dance and reception Saturday honoring Leroy and Norma Hovorka at the VFW in McPherson.

My Easter Sunday dinner guests were Joe and Marj Johnson, Ethan and Emily from Wichita.

Roseva McLinden and Patty McLinden went to Americus Saturday to attend a bridal shower honoring Roseva's niece, Erin Obee.

Rhonny Bowers spent the weekend in Andover with the Rick and Debi Lowe family.

Eileen Sieger attended a bridal shower for Sarah Crofoot Friday night at the home of Bettie Batt. Eileen helped as one of the hostesses for a bridal shower for Sarah at Eastmoor Saturday afternoon.

Shirley Bowers and L.Dena Goertz were among the women from Marion who attended UMW guest night Wednesday evening at the Burdick United Methodist Church. The speaker, following the meal, was from Lindsborg and told about her mission trip to Haiti.

Daniel and Kim Bowers, Bryce, Breanna, and Amber stopped to visit David and Shirley Bowers Friday afternoon as they were on their way to Phillipsburg to visit Kim's family for the Easter weekend.

Sunday dinner guests of David and Shirley Bowers were Doug and Janelle Paden, Matthew, Abigail, and Jonathan of Newton and Greg and Mary Beth Bowers, Stephen and Luke. The youngsters enjoyed an Easter egg hunt in the afternoon. David and Shirley were among the many friends and relatives who joined "Uncle" Harold Bowers Saturday morning at a local restaurant to help him celebrate his 90th birthday. His birthday actually was Feb. 22, but since he was snow-birding in Texas, the celebration was held after they returned to Kansas.

Kenneth and Anita Sly of Salina, Bill and Clarice Hammer of Olathe, Howard and Beth Collett, and David and Shirley Bowers met at the Pizza Hut Saturday for the noon meal and a good time of visiting.

Jeannine Bateman's Easter Sunday dinner guests were Kristine Bateman from Topeka, Alvina Skibbe and Daryl and Connie Skibbe, Eric and Christopher from Newton, and Jerald Skibbe from Greensburg.
