Michael and Cindy Gashler were married July 5 in Tennessee. They have purchased the Youngtown church from Theron Nienstedt and currently are remodeling it into a home. Soon they will be living in our community. It's great to have young people settling in this area.

Ella Wiebe, sister of Lois Schlender of Emporia, stopped Thursday afternoon to visit Roy and Rose Olive Hett. Sunday afternoon callers at the Hett home were Roy's niece Susan Mohler from Iowa and Glen and Pam Hett.

Kathy Swan and Becky Makovec and Tyler visited Vickie Smolik Sunday evening.

Dorothy Hayen came home from Marion Manor Saturday evening and is so glad to be home. Brent and Paula Hayen have a home now on their 80 acres and spent Sunday night on their own land. It's nice to have more young people in our community.

David and Shirley Bowers drove to Herington Tuesday and had lunch with Verle Bowers at the Herington Senior Center. While in the area, they called on Jim and Marilyn Cox at Woodbine. The Bowers accompanied a Hillsboro group to Wichita Thursday to attend the dinner theater production "America Sings" at the Crown Uptown Theater. Rick Branson had the church services at Marion Manor Sunday afternoon and David and Shirley helped with the music. They visited Benard and Helen Stromberg following the services.

Cy and L.Dena Goertz and Shirley and David Bowers went to Emporia Saturday night to the agriculture appreciation dinner at the Lyon County Fairgrounds. The Mick Summervills had their family reunion at their home Sunday and L.Dena and Cy were among the 81 family members in attendance. Pat Davis, L.Dena's sister, stayed Friday night with L.Dena and Cy before driving to Derby to visit a week with her son and family, the Mike Davis family.

Jan and Dan O'Neal from Seattle and Carol McReynolds from Minneapolis were Saturday luncheon guests of Howard and Beth Collett. Howard and Beth attended the play "Fractured Fairy Tales" in which granddaughter Caroline Collett played a part.

Jackie Hett was one of the Aulne United Methodist Church members at the picnic supper at the county lake Sunday evening, welcoming the new pastor and his wife, Mark and Nancy Moore.

Leonard and Rosalie Klassen had supper with Don and Bernice Friend in Newton Thursday evening. They drove to Wichita Sunday afternoon and ate with Marv and Vickie Fisher, Ashley, Aaron, and Allegra. Aaron and Allegra came home with them to spend the week on the farm.

Jo Gearheart and I hosted the Taylor reunion Sunday at the scout house in Hillsboro. We had 45 people from Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Missouri in attendance. My daughter Marj Johnson and family from Wichita was there as were her son Todd Gearheart from Wichita and daughter Jill Brown and family from Hillsboro.
