A reception was held following church at Eastmoor Sunday morning honor Marge Christensen, who is retiring as church secretary. Youngtown people who attended were Cy and L.Dena Goertz, Skip and Eileen Sieger, Glen and Pam Hett, Samantha and Kyle, Justin Herzet, David and Shirley Bowers, Leonard and Rosalie Klassen, Greg and Mary Beth Bowers, and Margaret Ireland.
Cy and L.Dena Goertz served Sunday supper to Clint and Diana Jost of Burdick.
Vickie Smolik was a Saturday supper guest of Paul and Kathy Swan. They celebrated Paul's birthday with supper, cake, and ice cream. Additional guests were Becky and Tim Makovec, Morgan and Tyler and Justin and Katrina Griffin, Kandace and Kassidy.
Annora Goering and girls brought garden produce to Dorothy and John Hayen and stayed for a visit. Dorothy reports that her son Leon and wife Cate have been visiting Cate's relatives in Minnesota this past week.
Wanda Coe came on Friday to help her parents, Roy and Rose Olive Hett. Rose Olive is recuperating at home following a fall which damaged ribs. Mary Mae Hett brought food to the Hetts a couple of days last week.
Leonard and Rosalie Klassen attended the Farm Bureau dinner meeting Saturday night at the city building. Ivanlee and Mary Ann Timms visited the Klassens Sunday night.
Shirley Bowers hosted a carry-in dinner for new members at Eastmoor Sunday noon. Other Youngtown people in attendance were David Bowers, Leonard and Rosalie Klassen, Greg and Mary Beth Bowers, Luke and Rhonny, Justin Herzet, and Margaret Ireland.
Skip and Eileen Sieger had houseguests from Friday through Sunday. John and Joan Mannhard and the Siegers toured the capital in Topeka on Friday. They attended a cookout with the flying club Saturday night at the airport. Skip has been showing the night sky to friends this past week through his telescope and he shared with the flying club Saturday night. They said Mars can be seen in the southeastern sky shortly after 10 p.m. I think I saw it one night and will continue to look for it during August.
Don and Vickie Kraus are coming home from Manhattan today. Don spent the past 11 days in the hospital recovering from surgery on Aug. 11. Raymond and Rita Kraus, Leroy Kraus, and Lorie and Justin Herzet visited Don last Thursday evening at the hospital. Nick and Stephanie drove Raymond and Rita to the hospital last Friday. Raymond stopped by this morning with a watermelon for me. They picked several from their garden and shared one with me. Those of us without gardens are so happy to have fresh garden produce
