Youngtown: Sieger attends Kansas Day luncheon

Eileen Sieger went Thursday to the Kansas Day luncheon sponsored by the Democratic women at McGillicuddy's. The speaker portrayed Alf Landon, former governor of Kansas. Eileen reported the program was excellent. Eileen attended the program Wednesday on attracting wild birds to our back yards at the Marion Senior Center, sponsored by the Co-Op.

Sarah Davidson went to a Quiz Bowl meet Saturday at Sterling. Rachel Davidson attended a forensic meet Saturday and brought home second and fourth place medals.

Mary Beth Bowers took her bread program Thursday to Florence to the Oasis School. She demonstrated how wheat becomes bread. She baked cracked wheat bread for them. Mary Beth sent a loaf of cracked wheat bread to the bank with Greg for a Kansas Day treat for the bank employees.

We awakened this morning to a snow-covered winter wonderland. This is the deepest snow of the season, around eight inches.

Vicki Smolik and Edmund Steiner attended the funeral services Wednesday for Marguerite Swan.

Karen Kelly came to the Greg Bowers home Thursday and spent the night, returning to Springfield Friday. She came to visit her father, Charles Kjellin, who is still in St. Luke Hospital in Marion.

John Hayen went Sunday morning to visit his mother, Dorothy Hayen, at St. Luke Living Center.

Leonard and Rosalie Klassen had supper Friday with Leonard and Merlie Friesen at Hillsboro. The Klassens went to the ball game Thursday at Tabor College.
