Youngtown: Siegers attend air show

Skip and Eileen Sieger attended an air show Sunday at Forbes Field in Topeka which featured the Blue Angels. Eileen and other members of the planning commission traveled to Montezuma to view the windfarm there. They also went to the kiosk where they were real close to one of them.
Paul and Jane Hett of Parsons came Friday evening to visit Roy and Rose Olive Hett. They had dinner together at Kingfisher's Inn. Paul and Jane stayed overnight and the two couples drove to Abilene Saturday to visit Elma Piper. Roy and Rose Olive ate Sunday dinner at McGillicuddy's with LaVera Bernhardt and Helen Jantz.
Leon Hayen came Wednesday to visit Dorothy and John Hayen. They were joined at the Pizza Hut by Max and Donna Hayen, Virginia Downing, and Marilyn Geis for supper and visiting. Brent and Paula Hayen came Saturday and brought Dorothy a bouquet of flowers. Dorothy, John, Virginia, Marilyn, L.Dena Goertz, Jackie Hett, and myself were among those attending the memorial service for Winnie Conyers Saturday morning. Dorothy and John stayed for the family dinner. Dorothy and John were at Eastmoor Sunday morning and Dorothy was awarded a basket of flowers for being the oldest Mother present. She is 97.
Sarah and Louis Stika, Rita and Jeff Tomlinson, and Janet and Doug Marler ate Saturday supper together at the Pizza Hut to celebrate Mother's Day.
Youngtown FCE members met at the Hillsboro Senior Center Thursday for a lesson on whole wheat foods. Members attending were Judy Christensen, Roseva McLinden, LuCretia Winkley, Gertie Mahoney, and Margaret Ireland.
Roseva McLinden was a guest of Richard and Patty McLinden for Mother's Day dinner. Additional guests were Chuck and Lori McLinden, Lauren and Jarret, and Steve Smith of Troy. Roseva attended the funeral of Lois Huntley Friday at the Florence Christian Church.
Betty Ireland and I had lunch together Thursday following her hosting of the Marion County food bank.
David and Shirley Bowers met Kevin and Bev Jennison at a restaurant in El Dorado Sunday and were their guests for a Mother's Day dinner. Others there were Leonard and Delores Jennison and Tindel Jennison of Latham and Roland and Judy Jennison, Caleb, Enoch, Shiloh, and Talitha of Wichita. Some of the Bowers family enjoyed a day of work on Saturday, exploring and visiting the old Bowers farm in the Youngtown community. The day ended with a wiener roast. Those present were Shirley and David Bowers, Richard Bowers, Greg and Mary Beth Bowers, Rhonny, Stephen, and Luke, and Doug and Janelle Paden, Matthew, Abigail, and Jonathan of Newton.
Rosalene and Charles Stinchcomb drove to the home of Susie and Rich Mueller at Mentor for a Mother's Day celebration. They were joined there by Charlene and Ralph Janzen of Hillsboro and Charlie and Barb Stinchcomb of Russell.
Jeannine Bateman was in Newton Friday for dinner with her mother, Alvina Skibbe. She joined Kristine Bateman in Topeka for the weekend. They took in the Show Case House while there. Jeannine said it was complete with beautiful grounds. Jeannine has a hummingbird at her house already this spring. Lucky Jeannine!
Vicki Smolik, Paul and Kathy Swan, and Tim and Becky Makovec, Morgan and Tyler went to Emporia Friday evening. They attended a dance recital in which Kandace and Kassidy Linton participated and the reception following at the home of Rod and Theresa Linton. Vicki spent Tuesday with Lorraine Havlik, who is recovering at the home of Dennis and Linda Wedel in Canton following open heart surgery.
Leon Hayen will be the guest speaker May 26 at the 2 p.m. Memorial Day service at Grant Township Cemetery.
Emily Johnson drove out here Saturday and spent the night with me. She drove me to church Sunday morning and on to Wichita for dinner at the Johnson home prepared by Marj. Additional guests were Joe and Ethan Johnson and Wilma and I.C. Johnson. I was not allowed to help with the cooking or the dishes. Following an afternoon of visiting, Marj and Ethan brought me home. What a deal!!!
