Jeannine Bateman was a guest Monday night at the Marion County Leadership banquet at Burns.

I was in Wichita the last part of last week helping Emily Johnson get ready to leave for college. Her parents took her to Texas A&M Friday morning and got her settled in the dorm.

Wanda Coe from Wichita came Thursday to the home of Roy and Rose Olive Hett and helped with housework and cooking and of course, visited. Roy and Rose Olive received a visit from Raymond Kraus Saturday morning. He came with a watermelon from his garden which they are enjoying.

Cy and L.Dena Goertz were Sunday dinner guests of Clint and Diana Jost. James Jost, John Jost, and Tory Hecht from the Manhattan area were home for the weekend. Cy and L.Dena were glad to visit with their grandsons and John's future wife. Cy and L.Dena were Saturday night guests at the hog roast held by the Tampa State Bank in Tampa.

Skip and Eileen Sieger enjoyed an early Sunday morning breakfast with other members of the Come Join Us Sunday school class at The Big Scoop.

Marilyn Geis, Virginia Downing, and Max Hayen helped John Hayen put a new twin bed in Dorothy Hayen's bedroom Saturday. She had been wanting one and this makes more room in her bedroom. They took Dorothy to the Pizza Hut for lunch Saturday. Dorothy and John Hayen and Virginia Downing ate dinner together Sunday at Florence.

Roseva McLinden attended the graveside services for Mrs. Vestering Monday morning at the Burns cemetery.

Vernon and Rachel Friesen of Hillsboro visited Leonard and Rosalie Klassen Sunday night. Margaret and Ed Hein and Leonard and Rosalie had supper together Friday night at the Burns Café.

We need rain badly. The trees are dropping their leaves so there won't be any left when fall gets here.

I ate Sunday dinner with Gerry Mills, Betty May, Charla Wheeler, and Martha Hood at Kingfisher's Inn.
