The 3A substate basketball game Feb. 28 was not only a chance for the Marion boys' basketball team to shine, but also the Marion High School Pep Band. What a let down! Mr. Connell, you need to step it up or step down! Go to a post-season game somewhere else and listen to what a REAL pep band sounds like.

Why would the city council decide to "find" additional funding to give the owner of a new business a $5,000 grant when there was only $1,500 left in the fund? Why provide a grant to a business right before their opening?
Isn't the grant award based upon a project plan and projected improvements and expansions instead of simply reimbursing a business for work that has already been completed?
When a business opening in days is given a grant, it seems obvious that the money has already been spent and the grant is only reimbursing the party for what they have already done. That goes against the rules outlined in the grant program. How are you treating this business the same as others when you are doing nothing more than reimbursing the person for monies already spent? This is not the process all the other businesses went through. They applied for a grant prior to starting a business or making improvements/expansions.

The new auditorium is going to look bad next to the gymnasium. And what about parking? It was reported 100 parking spaces would have been created with the space north of the gym, but now the auditorium is being moved there.
The other question I have is where will the PE classes perform outdoor activities if the space north of the gym is taken up by the new auditorium?

Isn't there a city ordinance in place that controls what color an owner may paint their building? If not, there should be.
