Thanks to all who participated in the talent show. It was great. Thanks, Doug (Marler) for taking the initiative and gumption to be the only male, outside of the high school students, to perform. I am proud of you!

Thanks, Marion County Record, for Chinga Talk by Pete the Chingawassa Rhino. Pete's doing a great job of educating us about one of the great things about Marion, our annual festival.

In response to L. Edward Davies, chairman of Citizens for an Informed Government, letter to the editor in the April 9 issue . . . he states that Bill Holdeman is the only candidate who has not softened on the principles of his campaign. Evidently Bill Holdeman ran on the principle that he would not keep the citizens of Marion informed of open government. Evidently he keeps residents who live outside Marion informed. This group supports a candidate for city council who wants to have a secret ballot regarding appointments of city officials, then votes to have secret sessions regarding these appointments (see Susan Berg's article, front page, April 9 issue). I wonder who the Citizens for an Informed Government are. They are not even registered with the Secretary of State. Davies lives at the county lake. Does this group totally consist of residents who live outside the city limits of Marion? Is this the type of government they support, everything done in secrecy as Holdeman proposes?
