2006 has come and gone. 2007 is almost half over. Where is the new asphalt the county commission said would be laid on Lakeshore Drive? It is badly needed.

This year's Chingawassa Days event was not well organized. I am disappointed in the events and the seclusion of some of our community.

It isn't fair to offer one-price buttons. There are many elderly and disabled people in this community who do not care to listen to the music offered. There are many who may come out for the barbecue and a couple of Saturday events and nothing else. I think $30 seems extreme. What about those with several children? I don't think it is feasible that families of five or more may have to pay $150 just on buttons! That doesn't offer them a chance to purchase anything while at the festival.

The committee offered the churches a chance to "participate" but then moved the service to the city building. Basically, that just said that work (removing the stage and cleaning) is more important than the presence of church in this community. Chingawassa events traditionally take place in the park unless there is inclement weather, so why can the church service so easily be moved?

Maybe it's time for a new Chingawassa committee. The present committee does not represent the community as a whole, but rather a select group of our community. We need some new people with new ideas and new attitudes. It is time for a change.
