If the commissioners wanted to give Shelly Abbott-Becker a raise, then so be it, but to give the excuse that they didn't want to lose another department head is a bold-faced lie. Just a couple of weeks ago they told a department head that there isn't anyone that can't be replaced, that no one was indispensable. I hope the three of them also realize that when the next election comes around. The taxpayers had such great hopes and promises with these commissioners, only to be greatly disappointed again.

The commission gave Shelly Abbott-Becker a six percent raise even when there were no raises scheduled in the budget. What does this make the other county employees — worthless?
