The final Marion Sesquicentennial event recognizing Marion’s 150th birthday will be Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Warrior Stadium parking lot.

The event will feature a wiener roast with all the fixings and drinks.

There also will be hayrack rides through the cemetery where Marion Elementary School students will be enacting stories of notable Marion luminaries from the past. Those unable to ride on hayracks may follow behind in their cars.

Ralph and Phyllis Kreutziger spoke at Marion Senior Center Oct. 12 about their experiences as volunteers with the Red Cross Disaster Services. The Kreutzigers became involved with the Red Cross in 2005 following hurricane Katrina.

Pictured is George Yang. 38, as he works on a room in the space that eventually will become his restaurant, Panda Kitchen, in Hillsboro. He has been working on the old building on Grand Avenue for the past three weeks.

Sarah Waddell, fifth-grade teacher at Marion Elementary School, has two boys, Hap and Anderson. They live at 117 Locust Street in a house described as unlike any other dwelling in Marion. The article, by staff writer Ben Kleine, also tells of a tree house, complete with zip line, Waddell has built behind her home.
