LEGAL NOTICE: In the District Court -- Cottonwood Valley Drainage District vs. City of Marion. Taken under advisement by the court until the May term. This is the case in which the Drainage District seeks to compel the city of Marion to remove the stone arch bridge at the park, claiming that it acts as a dam to the flood waters.

Fifty-four years ago this afternoon, Capt. Fred Lewis drove into Marion in a covered wagon and unhitched to stay. The night before, he had got his wagon stuck in the middle of Clear Creek north of town. He unhitched his horses, and slept in the wagon in the middle of the stream all night. Here’s hopin’ he stays here at least fifty-four more years.

Rep. Homer Hoch came in Tuesday afternoon for a few days at home. He was one of the thirty representatives named to accompany the body of former Speaker Champ Clark to his home at Bowling Green, Missouri, for burial.

The Evangelical Men’s Glee Club gave a fine concert at the church Wednesday evening. The club is composed of about fifteen men of the church who have been practicing for three or four months under the direction of Mr. J.H. Siebert. Miss Bernice Siebert is pianist,

The reason of the disappearance of Stanley Brown, assistant cashier of the American State Bank at Peabody last Thursday and of his whereabouts is still a mystery. No one has been able to give any motive at all for the strange disappearance. The bank officials say his accounts at the bank are correct in every detail and his home relations—he was a young married man—were exceptionally congenial.

A great time was enjoyed at the father and son Boy Scout banquet held at the high school building Monday evening. All but two or three of the twenty-four scouts were present and quite a number of fathers and guests. The domestic science department of the school served the banquet.
