Fighting to the very last, Marion’s team turned Friday afternoon’s game at Hutchinson from defeat to victory in the last 55 seconds of play, with the final score Marion 9, Hutchinson 0. Marion stands now in good shape to contend for state honors. One game remains on the schedule — that with Eureka a week from tomorrow.
Have you seen the electric meat chopper which has been installed at the Williams Meat Market? It is the last word in appliances of that sort, and if you will stop and see it, the man behind the chopper will be glad to show you what an advantage it is to the customer as well as proprietor.
C.C. Jones tendered his resignation as mayor ten days or more ago, and Josiah Good has been appointed to take his place.
Some person or persons made an attempt early Monday morning to burn the building containing the city clerk’s office and the Williams suitatorium.
A gasoline tank belonging to the suitatorium had been drained, and the contents, probably 20 gallons, had been poured over the floor in both the back and front rooms. Then the electric iron had been turned on and placed on the floor.
Had the thing worked as it was planned, the whole block might have been burned before it could have been stopped.
