Q.R. Smith of Burlington bought Marion Laundry recently. He and Mrs. Smith arrived a week or so ago to take charge. The Record wishes them success with the business.
The establishment of properly equipped playgrounds among rural schools is an encouraging feature of Marion County’s educational work this year.
In several rural districts we find playgrounds furnished with teeter boards, giant strides, turning poles, and swings, which are doing a great deal for the physical welfare of the boys and girls.
The Hillsboro Commercial Club met Monday of last week with representatives of the Mennonite Church to make plans for erection of a $12,000 Mennonite hospital.
The little people are practicing for the “Colonial Wedding” to be performed March 5. The cast includes Ruth Richardson as the bride, Wharton Hoch as the groom, and Cedric Smith and Harriet Bryan as the father and mother of the bride. Tickets are on sale at Riddle’s Pharmacy.
The Methodist ladies will serve a chicken-pie dinner March 3 at the courthouse. Here is the menu: chicken pie, mashed potatoes, cabbage salad, bread and butter, pickles, and apple and pumpkin pie, all for 25 cents. Serving will begin at half past five.
