Carl C. Ehrlich and Gus Schmersey have bought the grocery department of the Fickle Merc. Co. and will continue the business in the location where it has been for many years. They will call the store The Cash Grocery.

Fritz Nonken of the Burns neighborhood has leased the big O.K. ranch — the Livoni ranch, southeast of Marion. Mr. and Mrs. John Livoni and Lena Livoni expect to go to California to make their home sometime in the spring.

B.B. Neumann was here from West Branch Township on business at the courthouse yesterday. He says that he does not believe ice has done much damage to wheat but has caused a lot of trouble with telephone wires. Just for fun, he took ice from a measured section of telephone wire, weighed it, and computed that the weight of ice on one wire in one mile at more than 1,700 pounds.

It was a humdinger, a howling success, an all-star performance and then some. We refer, to be sure, to “Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” put on yesterday evening before a packed house by home talent.

A group of high school girls enjoyed a sleigh ride Friday night to Hillsboro. About 15 girls were in the crowd, chaperoned by Miss Loesch and Miss Tinkler. Hanna Batt especially enjoyed the trip.
