Public comments at a meeting Monday afternoon of Marion County Commission threw obstacles in a plan by Jim and Debra Whitfill to lease half of the county lake hall for a café, construct cabins to rent, and provide rentals of paddleboats, kayaks, and other human-powered watercraft.

Army Sgt. Mark Raleigh will be welcomed home at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Marion VFW post. Sgt. Raleigh, son of Robert and Mary Raleigh of Marion, recently completed a tour in Iraq.

Marion Lions Club is sponsoring a community Easter egg hunt Saturday, March 22, at Central Park.
