Three residents on N. Roosevelt St. presented a petition Monday to Marion City Council bearing signatures from residents on Coble, Roosevelt, Freeborn, and Cedar St. from Kellison to Main St. who oppose putting a new county jail in Marion’s industrial park.
A five-generation picture in this issue is of great-great-grandmother Amelia Vinduska of Marion, great-grandfather Bud Vinduska of Florence, grandmother Sharon Hess of Hillsboro, mother Jessica Hess of Wamego, and son D.J. Miller.
The 90th Hett reunion was Aug. 9 and 10. About 90 members were present at a potluck picnic at the Dave Hett farm Aug. 9 and about 120 attended a potluck dinner Aug. 10 at Marion County Lake hall.
Dick Maggard will be honored from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at a retirement reception at the Marion Middle / High School commons. Maggard is being recognized for 22 years of service to the Marion and Florence communities.
Marion City Council approved on Monday the sale of two lots in the city’s business park to a vehicle towing business. The agreement with Auto House Inc. of Galva is for lots on the north side of US-56.
Midway Motors of McPherson acquired Irv Schroeder County Motors of Hillsboro on Aug. 18. The company plans to build a new store and shop alongside US-56 at Hillsboro.
